The Manitoba Open 2005 tournament will be held at the
AN&AF Unit# 283, 2584 Portage Avenue on September 16-18,
2005. The ANAVETS UNIT #283 association of the Army, Navy & Air Force
Veterans in Canada is the largest unit (membership of about
1200), of the oldest Veterans Association in North America. The
club room is very large and roomy (it used to be a Roller
Skating Rink) and has lot of room for the various activities
that take place. The main lounge has a large dance floor and lots of seating
to enjoy each others company. There is also the Provincial
Lounge if you prefer a more quieter atmosphere. Then in the large
Game Room there are 3 full size pool tables, 2 in-house shuffle board
tables, and over a dozen dart boards, plus 3 TVs (including a
big screen TV) to make sure you don't miss any of the televised
sports action. There's plenty of room to bring in more
shuffleboards for larger tournament events.
